Lisa is bringing the “Rockstar” energy to Global Citizen 2024 in September. On Tuesday, the festival announced that Blackpink member Lisa will perform at the New York-hosted event as one of its headliners, joining the likes of Post Malone and Jelly Roll.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Lisa for what will be her first-ever solo performance at a music festival,” said Katie Hill, an executive for the festival. “Lisa is not only an incredible performer, but also a powerful advocate, leveraging her voice and platform to drive action on some of the most urgent challenges our world is facing.”
The performance arrives as the Blackpink star has initiated a new musical era as a solo performer after dropping the high-energy single “Rockstar,” produced by Ryan Tedder and Sam Homaee, last month.
“We look forward to welcoming Lisa, and of course Lilies and Blinks, to Central Park in September!” added Hill.
Last month, Global Citizen announced the first cohort of headliners: Malone, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, and reggaeton singer Rauw Alejandro. Hugh Jackman will host the event on the Great Lawn at New York’s Central Park, while Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Dr. Jane Goodall will make special appearances. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Global Citizen Fest is a free event and tickets can be secured via the Global Citizen app or website. This year’s show seeks to encourage governments to increase financial support for anti-poverty programs, protect and restore the Amazon rainforest, and improve access to healthy food, stronger health care systems, and education.
Last year’s Global Citizen Festival also had a flair of K-pop as Jung Kook hit the stage. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Anitta, and Conan Gray were among the artists who performed the event last year.
