Their previous film and TV work includes A Star Is Born, the Showtime series Roadies, and the animated film Sing 2
Following the release of her latest album The Great Impersonator, Halsey is set to develop a dark comedy series for Amazon Prime Video. Halsey will serve as the creator, writer, and executive producer on Bloodlust, according to a Amazon MGM Studios spokesperson. Ti West, known for his work on the X film series, will direct.
Although plot lines and the release date are under wraps, Halsey and their team have been tinkering away at the Amazon series for years. Her manager Anthony Li and West will executive produce, with Mark Friedman (Severance) serving as showrunner and executive producer.
Halsey’s previous film and TV roles include A Star Is Born, the Showtime series Roadies, the animated film Sing 2, and A24’s MaXXXine.
On the music front, Halsey released The Great Impersonator in October. On the album, she unleashes an autobiography filled with rage, depression, and commiseration. Throughout the 19-track album, which relies largely on piano and guitar, they question friendships and even contemplate death.
As Halsey rolled out their fifth album, she stepped into character of pop icons from different eras, leaning into the star-like qualities of Dolly Parton, Kate Bush, Cher, David Bowie, and Aaliyah throughout the record. On Halloween, Halsey spanned different eras during a headlining performance for the Amazon Music Live Concert series. She showcased the Seventies as she performed her Fleetwood Mac-inspired “Panic Attack,” then the Eighties for a new Americana rendition of Manic’s “Graveyard,” and later the Nineties for a grunge take of Manic’s “You Should Be Sad.”
