Katy Perry is a beachside, motorcycle-riding baddie in the video for her new single “Lifetimes.” On Thursday, the pop star released the visual, which reveals the track list of her upcoming album, 143, and includes collabs with Kim Petras, Doechii, 21 Savage, and J.I.D.
The Stillz-directed video captures the singer during a recent trip to Spain, strutting on the shore in a bikini, riding a yacht with some friends, and throwing pizza to the crowd at a nightclub. The visual ends with a hungover Perry riding the train while drinking a bottle of water.
“‘Lifetimes’ is a song about eternal love,” said Perry in a press release. “It’s about finding that one deep and satisfying love of your life. A soulmate doesn’t always have to come in the form of a partner. It can come in all different ways: a child, a best friend, a pet.”
“For me it is my daughter,” she added. “I ask her every night, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ She says yes, and I feel found. You’ll find each other, over and over again, for lifetimes.”
At one point in the “Lifetimes” video, Perry unveils the track listing for 143, which drops on Sept. 20 via Capitol Records. It marks her first full-length project since 2020’s Smile.
Along with singles “Woman’s World” and “Lifetimes,” the album will also feature tracks such as “All the Love,” “Crush,” and “Wonder.” 21 Savage is featured on Track 2, “Gimme Gimme,” Kim Petras joins Perry on “Gorgeous,” Doechii will rap on “I’m His, He’s Mine,” and J.I.D. will join on “Artificial.”
Perry teased “Lifetimes” last month with clips of her dancing to the song with fans during an album preview event. “143 is a party and everyone’s invited,” Perry wrote on Instagram. The new single arrives several weeks after the singer was dragged online for 143‘s lead single “Women’s World.”
“I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expressions of love as a throughline message,” Perry previously said about the album.
143 reconnected Perry with some producers she’s employed in the past — such as Stargate, Max Martin, and Dr. Luke — as well as some new collaborators including Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Valdes, and Theron Thomas. “Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source told Rolling Stone earlier this summer.
