If you’re into skin care, you’re probably aware of the (overwhelming) variety of beauty tools on the market. I admittedly have a jade roller, ice roller, and gua sha in my own beauty arsenal, and though they all help with depuffing and toning, I had yet to graduate to an at-home microcurrent device. After months of gua sha-ing and reading about other PS editors’ favorite devices, I decided to try one out for myself to see if my skin would reap any benefits. That’s where Bio-Therapeutic’s Bt-Sculpt ($392) comes in.

According to the brand, the Bt-Sculpt was “designed to deliver professional grade lifting, toning, sculpting, and firming.” With pre-programmed “lift” and “skin” settings, the device felt like a less intimidating option that would help take the guesswork out of giving myself a good at-home microcurrent facial. But could I get professional-looking results at home? I tested it out to see for myself.

Keep reading for my honest thoughts on Bio-Therapeutic’s Bt-Sculpt ahead.

About the Bio-Therapeutic Bt-Sculpt

  • The Bt-Sculpt is a handheld facial sculpting device that uses microcurrent technology to tone the skin for a more lifted appearance.
  • Most microcurrent devices have one or two probes, but the Bt-Sculpt has four stainless steel probes for better skin contact, tension, and microcurrent distribution.
  • It has two modes: “lift” for facial lifting and “skin” to amplify the benefits of your favorite water-based serums and toners.
  • The brand says you can expect an improvement in skin texture, appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and skin firmness in just six minutes.
  • The Bt-Sculpt facial sculpting system comes with the device, an instruction guide, a quick start guide, an equipment stand, a silicone case, a charger, and a charging cord.
  • The device is also FDA-approved.

What I Like About the Bio-Therapeutic Bt-Sculpt

When I first used the Bt-Sculpt, I noticed some subtle results — mainly the softening of lines on my face and a more sculpted jawline. But it was after I used the device for three weeks that I really started seeing results. My face and brow bone especially appeared more lifted after using the lift mode, and my smile lines were less prominent after using the “skin” mode. I’d also like to note that I wasn’t zapped once while using the Bt-Sculpt, which was something I worried about prior to using it (or any other microcurrent device).

I also appreciated that I was able to get a facial that sculpted my face and allowed for better absorption of my skin-care products in just under six minutes. To see results, the brand recommends using the Bt-Sculpt up to three times a week, which feels pretty low maintenance for an otherwise high-maintenance service at a professional spa. Overall, I was pleased with my results. I can see myself using the Bt-Sculpt long-term because it doesn’t require a huge time commitment, is easy to use (once you get the hang of it), and delivers results pretty quickly.

How to Use the Bio-Therapeutic Bt-Sculpt

Before starting your facial, cleanse and exfoliate the skin for best results. Follow with your favorite water-based serums or toners for optimal microcurrent conductivity and so the device probes run smoothly along the surface of your skin. I switched off between using Bio-Therapeutic’s microcurrent-specific products (Restyfluid, Aquafuse Hydrate, or Bt-Cocktail ampoules) and the Cocokind Chia Bounce Mask ($13).

The Bt-Sculpt uses two modes for a microcurrent facial, lift and skin, and each mode has five power levels, ranging from one (the lowest) to five (the highest). The brand recommends starting at a low power level and working your way up, but I personally started with levels two and three while using the device because I’ve used other toning beauty tools in the past.

Start with the lift mode — AKA the workout step for your face. You’ll want to target these five areas on one side of your face: your jawline, cheekbone, outer and inner corner of the mouth, and brow bone. Hold the Bt-Sculpt against your face and lift for 12 seconds on each of the targeted areas, ensuring all four probes touch the skin (two purple lights will light up on the device to indicate that all probes have conductivity and are in contact with your skin). Repeat the same movements on the other side of your face.

After that, rehydrate the skin with the water-based serum of your choice just in case whatever barrier you used during the lift mode has been absorbed. Then, put the Bt-Sculpt on skin mode and run the device freely over the surface of the skin and neck.

Is the Bio-Therapeutic Bt-Sculpt Worth the Splurge?

The Bt-Sculpt is pricier than some at-home microcurrent devices, but it has many different settings and functions. Based on that, I think it’s definitely worth the splurge if you’re looking to level up your more basic microcurrent device or save on in-office facials with an at-home option.

What To Consider Before Trying the Bio-Therapeutic Bt-Sculpt

There was a bit of a learning curve when it came to using the Bt-Sculpt. I had to watch a tutorial that came with the device a few times before I got the hang of it. You have to put in the time to learn how to use the device correctly for each setting — otherwise, you might just be pulling the skin on your face in different directions (a big no if you’re trying to decrease the appearance of fine lines). I’d also note that to get the best results, you have to use the device consistently. It’s only a three-times-a-week, six-minutes-per-use commitment — but a commitment to be considered nonetheless before adding it to your routine.

Where Is the Bt-Sculpt Available?

The Bt-Sculpt is available for purchase on Amazon and the brand’s site.
