Luísa Sonza Duets With Caetano Veloso, Expands ‘Escândalo Íntimo’

Must read

Luisa Sonza is giving her third album Escândalo Íntimo another life. On Tuesday, Sonza added four previously unreleased songs to the LP, including a reimagined version of 1972’s “You Don’t Know Me” with Brazilian legend Caetano Veloso himself.

“It was so exciting to record one of my songs with Luísa Sonza, who is such a brilliant figure of the new generation,” Veloso said in a press release. The video for the track follows a pensive Sonza singing along to the track while riding in the back of a moving truck.

Along with the duet, Sonza added songs “Bêbada Favorita” with Maiara & Maraisa, “Sagrada Profano” with KayBlack, and “O Amor Tem Dessas” to Escândalo Íntimo, whose title translates to Intimate Scandal.

“I couldn’t wait to release these songs with such special collaborations,” Sonza said in a statement. “It’s a dream come true for me that this album — this intense work that I put so much of myself into — is now available in its entirety.”

Sonza originally released the LP with 20 songs back in August 2023, featuring songs such as the Spanglish “A Dona Aranha,” “Chico,” “Campo De Morango,” “La Muerte” with Tokischa, and “Penhasco2” with Demi Lovato. It marked her first full-length project since 2021’s Doce 22, which earned her a Latin Grammy nod in 2022.

“This album is about me, about my feelings, dreams, nightmares and fears. My inner self is in it,” she wrote earlier this week on Instagram about Escândalo. “It was difficult to turn so many feelings into music, it was painful, but it also healed me. It made me go on and leave a lot of things that once hurt me behind.”

“I’ve been able to collaborate with incredible artists, paying tribute to music that I admire and that has been a part of my life,” she added.
