Bésame Mucho Will Cancel Shakira-Headlined 2024 Festival in L.A.

Bésame Mucho Los Angeles is a no-go this year. Several sources tell Rolling Stone that the Latin music festival, originally scheduled for Dec. 21 at Dodger Stadium, will not go on as planned. An official announcement is expected later this week.

Shakira, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, and Tigres Del Norte were scheduled to headline the event. The organizers’ decision to cancel the 2024 iteration of the fest came after Shakira switched her fall arena tour for a stadium run next summer, according to sources. Bésame Mucho, which announced its lineup in May, would’ve aligned with her shows in Southern California.

Minutes after this Rolling Stone report, Bésame Mucho confirmed the news, issuing a statement on Instagram that “circumstances beyond our control” as the reason for the cancelation. “After working tirelessly all year to bring you another unforgettable show in December, we are deeply disappointed to share this news,” the fest wrote.

The Colombian star is scheduled to kick off her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in Brazil in February, before performing in the United States in May and June. “The demand for tickets and more shows has reached the point that our tour now requires stadiums,” Shakira wrote in a statement last month.

Los Tigres Del Norte, Banda MS, Belanova, Carlos Vives, Hombres G, and Gloria Trevi were also scheduled to perform at Bésame Mucho Los Angeles. Several weeks after the festival was announced in May, organizers added an expanded rock en español lineup, along with duranguense acts Montez de Durango, Alacranes Musical, K-Paz de la Sierra, and Patrulla 81.

Tickets for the one-day event started at $345. As of Monday afternoon, tickets were still on sale at the original “first tier” pricing. At past festivals, pricing increased as demand grew.

Bésame Mucho Austin — which revealed its lineup, including Carin León and Peso Pluma as headliners, last week — is set to continue as planned next year, according to one of the sources. Bésame Mucho has already updated its Instagram branding to focus on the Texas edition of the fest, including their bio, which includes no mention of the L.A. fest.

Maná, Los Bukis, and Gloria Trevi headlined the Los Angeles festival in 2023, while Caifanes, Alejandra Guzman, and Los Tigres Del Norte headlined the festival’s first edition in 2022. Shakira’s stadium dates will mark her first U.S. tour since the El Dorado world tour in 2018.

This story was updated at 7:05 p.m. ET with a statement from the music festival.
