From spring allergies to winter dryness, I rely on my humidifier to help me breathe easier, especially while asleep. I use it every night, and when I don’t have access to one, I can immediately notice a difference in my nasal cavity. Throughout the years, I’ve used and tested a wide range of humidifiers, and one thing I find difficult is keeping them clean and mold-free. However, once I discovered Canopy’s humidifier and its low-effort maintenance design, I never looked back.
The brand just released an upgraded version of its bestselling humidifier, the Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0 ($179), and I put it to the test while I had a fever. Canopy partnered with Being Frenshe for this launch, introducing a limited edition color and three essential oil scents. Being Frenshe is an affordable beauty and wellness brand founded by Ashley Tisdale that’s rooted in aromatherapy.
Ahead, you can read more about the new humidifier and my in-depth review.
What I Like About the Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0:
Although it may look like the humidifier isn’t producing a mist, it is. The brand uses an evaporative technology that helps filter the water and dispense it into the air as an invisible vapor. This ensures that moisture doesn’t accumulate on the walls or nearby furniture, which can cause damage. Canopy’s humidifiers are known for their mold-inhibiting properties, which is a huge plus because no one should be breathing in moldy air. The humidifier runs until it’s completely dry inside, which helps inhibit mold growth in the first place. The new humidifier is equipped with an upgraded filter that has two layers: a MERV1 Pro-filter that catches larger particles from the air and an antimicrobial filter core that captures metals, minerals, and dust. The water also runs through a UV light to help disinfect.
With all these protection properties, the air feels fresher and cleaner. I noticed an immediate difference in my cough and cold symptoms the morning after using it for the first time. My throat and nasal cavity didn’t feel as dry or irritated, and I could take deeper breaths without struggling. I didn’t feel as congested either — in fact, I felt like I was on the mend from my fever. Although it’s not a cure for feeling under the weather, it does help alleviate the symptoms and keep the air quality fresh so you won’t feel worse.
Beyond the filter change, the new humidifier has two new features that enhance your bedtime routine: a nightlight setting and a white noise setting. I use the warm white light when I’m reading before bed, but I primarily try to keep it on the red light setting when I’m doing my nighttime routine to help set the mood for bedtime. I turn off the lights when I’m closing my eyes. The white noise is a soft fan noise that can be adjusted to your preferences. Because of how sensitive my nasal cavity is to dryness, I like to keep the humidifier at a higher speed level, which tends to blend in with the white noise sound so I don’t really hear it.
How to Use the Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0:
The Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0 is easy to use, and all the pieces fit like a puzzle. Just fill up the water tank and place it in the base, place the filter in the middle of the base, make sure the device is plugged in on your nightstand, and power it on. You can play around with the humidification, light, and sound machine settings by pressing the buttons right above the grill.
Just like its predecessor, this humidifier also has a fragrance well for aromatherapy. It comes with the brand’s signature Unwind scent, a bergamot tea blossom. You can also get the relaxing scents from Being Frenshe for a limited time. Add around five to eight drops of the essential oil blend onto the aroma stone and let the humidifier fan disperse the scent into your space. I like the Palo Santo Sage for an elevated scent, the Cashmere Vanilla for something warm and comforting, and the Lavender Cloud for something floral and soothing.
The humidifier is also incredibly easy to clean, as most parts are dishwasher-safe, including the tank and its cap, the base tray, and the grill. I use a handheld vacuum in the fan area to clean out any trapped dust.
What to Consider Before Trying the Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0:
Unlike other humidifiers on the market, this one requires you to change the filter every six weeks, which is an additional cost. I suggest getting on a subscription plan like this yearly subscription ($105, originally $115) so you won’t run out of filters and can also save with a bundle deal.
Who Is the Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0 Best For?
I highly recommend the Canopy Bedside Humidifier 2.0 for those who find it difficult to sleep in dry air environments or for those sensitive to dryness in general. It’s especially useful during the cold/flu season, as dry air can make cough and cold symptoms feel worse. I also recommend it for those who want to improve their overall sleep environment with an enhanced, sensorial experience of fresh, quality air, a mood-setting nightlight, soothing white noise, and aromatherapy. It pretty much offers three sleep products in one chic device.
