If there’s one thing to know about my corgi, Cooper, it’s that he sheds a lot. Over the years, we’ve learned to adapt by choosing furniture that doesn’t highlight his light-colored fluff, like the Albany Park Lido Sofa 86. But let’s be real: swapping out all our homeware to suit a 30-pound four-legged creature isn’t exactly practical. That’s where trusty gadgets like the Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover ($25, originally $28) come in. This lightweight little tool is so convenient and unlike any other pet gadget I’ve tried. Keep reading to see why it’s become a must have in my fur-fighting arsenal — and why it should be in yours, too.

What I love about the Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover is how simple and intuitive it is to use. The roller boasts a textured, fabric-like surface that grabs pet hair and lint without the need for any batteries or sticky adhesive. I’m no scientist, so I can’t explain the exact mechanics behind how it works, but as a shopping editor and a shedding dog owner, I can confidently tell you it does the job well.

My favorite surfaces to use it on are colored fabrics where fur is most visible, like our vintage loveseat with its red cushion (white fur shows up on it like it’s under a spotlight). I just roll it back and forth and it picks up all the fur within seconds. When I’m done, I press the button on the handle to open the lid and uncover the collected fur inside, then I dump it straight into the trash.

The Chom Chom Roller may not be as hardcore or high-tech as my Dyson vacuum, but it’s certainly easier to stash near the couch for a quick clean-up before guests arrive — or before I brave sitting down in black pants. I’m far from alone in my love affair; almost 150,000 Amazon shoppers have declared it the number-one bestseller among all of Amazon’s dog hair removers. But don’t let that fool you — it’s not just for dog parents. While I don’t have a cat, plenty of people swear it’s a game-changer for felines and all types of fur for that matter.

One thing to consider before buying the Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover is that the button that pops open the fur collection compartment is smack dab in the center of the roller (as you might have noticed in the GIFs above). This design quirk means it’s super easy to hit by mistake, potentially causing a mini fur explosion that you just cleaned up. According to the reviews, I’m not the only one that’s had this happen a time or two (hence my less-than-five-star rating).

Another thing to note: the Chom Chom is best for smaller spaces, like loveseats or couches, car seats, or an entryway rug. If you’re planning to tackle a whole flight of stairs or an area rug, be prepared for a bit of a workout. The fur compartment fills up fast, so you might find yourself making multiple trips to the trash can to empty it out. While these quirks don’t make it a deal breaker for me, they’re definitely worth considering if you’re after a completely seamless fur-cleaning experience.

The Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover is available on Amazon with Prime delivery options as fast as same-day.
