How to Make TikTok’s Crispy Feta Eggs | Photos

Must read

Apparently there’s room for more than one viral feta recipe on TikTok, because the baked feta pasta that was once all over the app has since been dethroned by the feta fried eggs trend.

Originally shared to TikTok by recipe developer Grace Elkus, the easy breakfast dish comes together with only two ingredients: feta cheese and eggs. To make it, you simply melt feta cheese in a pan over medium heat, crack an egg on top, then cover it until the yolk is cooked to your liking.

Though egg and feta are all you really need, Elkus recommends sprinkling on a bit of black pepper and red pepper flakes, but as long as you don’t add extra salt (the feta already takes care of that) you can season it however you like. If you enjoyed TikTok’s pesto eggs or chili oil eggs for instance, you could easily incorporate the same flavors into your feta eggs by drizzling it onto the melted feta before you add the eggs. Since my favorite way to eat feta with eggs is in shakshuka, I decided to go with some canned fire-roasted tomatoes.

Whether you decide to enjoy your feta eggs plain or add extra ingredients, just make sure you’re using full-fat feta so the cheese can fully melt. For ultra-crispy results, wait until the feta has turned into a puddle before adding the eggs, and by the time they finish cooking, the feta should be perfectly browned. When you’re ready to serve them, Elkus suggests using a tortilla to turn this simple recipe into a full-on filling breakfast, though other TikTokers have also tried it with avocado toast. The results are equally delicious, especially if you’re a fan of feta cheese.

Check out the full recipe ahead for all the steps on how to make feta fried eggs, including ways to upgrade your feta eggs.
